The CentriVap® DNA Centrifugal Concentrator speeds evaporation of solvents from DNA or other small samples. The bench-top cabinet houses the concentrator, rotor, diaphragm vacuum pump, two glass traps and all connecting tubing. No additional components are required to begin processing. A Quick-Start button starts the rotor, heater, timers and vacuum pump. Three separate Quick-Start buttons store one user-set program each. Temperature, heat time and run time can be set with just the touch of a few buttons. The user may also alter temperature and times while the program is in progress. Heat and run times are set separately so that heat may be programmed to shut down sooner than the run, which protects heat-sensitive samples from excessive heat exposure after the solvent has evaporated.
The Quick-Stop system ensures that within seconds of run time expiring (or if the RUN/STOP button is pressed), the vacuum pump stops, the valve opens to bleed air into the chamber, and the rotor stops. A DNA Rotor is included, which accommodates up to 60 (1.5mL or 2.0mL) or 72 (0.5mL) microcentrifuge tubes. Two 177mL glass traps protect the vacuum pump and the environment. One is located between the chamber and the vacuum pump. The other is located at the pump™s exhaust outlet. A large chamber holds more samples for greater throughput. Thick-wall aluminum chamber is epoxy-coated for corrosion resistance (Teflon-coated chambers are also available). Optional CentriZap Strobe Light, which plugs into the back of the CentriVap, enables the user to view samples while the rotor is spinning. A Glass Lid is also available.
