Cryotubes, or cryovials, are primarily used to preserve samples stored at low temperatures, including the vapor phase of LN2. Greiner Bio-One’s Cryo.s tubes are suitable for storage down to -196 °C, ensuring consistent results and preventing sample degradation. In the event a sample shipment is necessary, Cryo.s also meet the pressure requirements for transportation by aircraft. This line of high-quality cryotubes offers several features for the identification and labeling of individual samples including colored screw caps, a white, scratch-resistant writing area, and barcoding options. White cap inserts are also available in each box of Cryo.s for labeling the top of the screw cap.

Features:

  • Volume: 5mL
  • Internal Thread
  • Support Rim
  • Round Bottom
  • Sterile
  • Free of detectable DNase, RNase, human DNA
  • Non-Pyrogenic, non-cytotoxic
  • CE-marked
  • Made of high-grade polypropylene which guarantees high thermal resistance in a temperature range from -196°C to +37°C
  • As a safety precaution Cryo.s should be stored in a freezer or exclusively in the gas phase over the liquid nitrogen
  • Suitable for shipment by air
  • Working volume: up to 4.5 ml
  • Diameter: 12.5 mm; total height incl. lid: 86 mm
  • With 100 inserts per case (for additional labelling on the cap)

Cryo.s are for storage of tissue, cells, fungi, bacteria, spores, cellular extracts or body fluids at ultra-low temperature for research and development purposes in avery compact format. They must not be stored in the liquid phase of liquid nitrogen, but only in the gas phase above. Cryo.s tubes are not intended for any application in the context of reproductive medicine.

An outstanding feature of all Cryo.s is the utilization of a USP class VI certified, medical grade polypropylene for tube manufacturing. This material does not release significant amounts of leachables, hence stored samples stay clean and free of contamination. Sterile product versions are sterilized applying an ISO 11137 validated irradiation procedure yielding an SAL level of 10 – 6.
