Cut Resistant Glove Standards
There are 2 principal standards in assessing the protection offered by work gloves: ANSI/ISEA 105 in the U.S., and EN 388, the EU standard also widely referred to in regions like Canada, Australia/New Zealand, and South America.
These standards underwent significant updates in 2015-2016 to ensure consistence between both standards and to keep pace with the evolution of cut-resistant materials, including high-performance polyethylene (HPPE), PVA yarns, heat-resistant aramid fibers, and ultra-strong tungsten.
ANSI 105 & EN 388 assess gloves for:
Cut Resistant Glove Materials
Materials make a huge difference in terms of comfort and protection. If the protective gloves are stiff, itchy, hot, uncomfortable, or don’t breathe, workers would not want to wear them for an entire shift, and then, injuries happen.
Food Grade Dyneema Cut Resistant Gloves
Dyneema is a high-performance fiber consists of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. Dyneema® fibers are resistance to cuts, chemicals, and UV rays. Its lightweight nature makes it for all-day wear, delivering great cut protection, dexterity, and comfort.
Dyneema Cut Resistant Glove Applications:
Kevlar Cut Resistant Gloves
Protective gloves made of yarns combined with cut-resistant soft-spun Kevlar material are lightweight, breathable while offering excellent protection against cut, slash, and flame.
Kevlar Cut Resistant Glove Applications:
HPPE Cut Resistant Gloves
Polyethylene-based fiber is a cost-effective, high-performing, cut-resistance material for PPE. HPPE gloves offer high cut resistance levels without compromising dexterity.
